Airman from E. Indiana held in toddler's NC death

PORTLAND -

A U.S. Air Force senior airman from eastern Indiana is being held in North Carolina in connection with the death of his 15-month-old son.
 
The Commercial Review of Portland reported Thursday that 21-year-old Matthew Theurer is jailed in Sampson County, N.C., on charges of voluntary manslaughter, negligent homicide and murder after the body of his son, Matthew, was found Tuesday.in a wooded area of Columbus County, N.C., about 100 miles from where Theurer is stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, southeast of Raleigh.
 
The baby was born Dec. 8, 2011, at Jay County Hospital in Portland, about 80 miles northeast of Indianapolis, to Theurer and his wife, Ashley. It's unclear if they remain married.
 
The Air Force Office of Special Investigations says autopsy results for the boy are pending.
