AVON -

Pizza parlor robbery suspect Rameil Pitamber is headed to prison for a long time. The 17-year-old Ben Davis High School student pleaded guilty in Hendricks County criminal court Wednesday in the Little Caesar's armed robbery in Avon in late January of this year.

Pitamber, 17, is going to prison for 11 years.  Prosecutors built a strong case against him using videotape of the robbery.

Pitamber and his defense attorney, a public defender, agreed to a plea bargain to avoid even more prison time. The judge sentenced him to six years for the robbery and five years for the firearm used during a felony.

Pitamber was arrested with a second suspect, 18-year-old Derek Berryhill. Although Pitamber is a juvenile, he faced charges as an adult.

Prosecutors say Berryhill provided Pitamber with information about the restaurant and the employees who would be working at the time of robbery.

Pitamber went into the store on a Saturday night and robbed the cashier at gunpoint. Video shows a gunman forcing the workers to tie each other up with zip-ties before he fled the restaurant.

Sources tell Eyewitness News that  the 17-year-old dropped his cell phone during the getaway. Detectives obtained search warrants to check the calls and found calls to Berryhill, who worked for the restaurant.

Berryhill has recently hired an attorney to defend him in the case. Berryhill is still in custody at the Hendricks County Jail. Prosecutors filed one count of conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of marijuana. The judge set his bond is $50,000.

Pitamber could end up doing less than the 11 years based on his behavior in prison. Indiana allows inmates reduced time for education obtained behind bars, too.

Avon detectives recovered the stolen $350 taken on the robbery.
