"Harlem Shake" sparks controversy

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

It seems to happen just like night follows day: a song becomes a big hit - and someone complains that they were ripped off.

It's happening again - this time with the latest viral hit, "Harlem Shake." Two performers who say their songs were used Baauer's number-one hit are looking to get paid - because they claim the voices were used without permission.

The New York Times reports songs from Hector Delgado and Jayson Musson are used in "Harlem Shake," which has become a viral hit thanks to YouTube videos of people dancing to the song.

Delgado and Musson say they never gave Baauer permission to use the songs. Both Musson and Delgado want compensation from Mad Decent Records, which put out the single. The label had declined to comment.
