Indy power outage knocks WTHR off air

INDIANAPOLIS -

The Indianapolis NBC affiliate WTHR-TV is back on the air after being among the customers affected by a downtown power outage.

The outage Sunday afternoon affected about 800 customers of Indianapolis Power & Light Co.
WTHR, airing a National Hockey League game between the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers, was back on the air at 2 p.m. EDT.

IPL spokeswoman Brandi Davis-Handy says the outage started at a substation.

It caused traffic lights to go out at several downtown intersections. The central branch of the Indianapolis Public Library closed its doors during the outage.
