Business apathy cuts downtown events in Vincennes

Posted: Updated:
VINCENNES -

Residents of historic Vincennes could have fewer special events to attend downtown this year.

The city has already canceled its pre-Halloween Pumpkin Hunt. Now business leaders are weighing whether to cancel the spring open houses that have featured businesses offering refreshments, extended hours and specials on spring merchandise.

The Vincennes Sun-Commercial reports the local businessman who launched the open houses isn't able to lead the effort this year, and no business owners have offered to plan the event.

Vincennes Central Business District president Liz Musgrove says downtown is in a transition period but that she hopes to come up with new events that will draw interest from residents and businesses.
