Nine-year-old hospitalized after snowmobile crash

FORT WAYNE -

Conservation officers say a 9-year-old boy has been hospitalized after he crashed his snowmobile in a field behind his family's home in Fort Wayne.

William Lockwood had rib and lung injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne following the accident about 2 p.m. Saturday.

Indiana Conservation Officer James Price says in a news release that the boy and his uncle were riding separate snowmobiles in the field and the boy lost control during a turn. Price says the boy leaped off the snowmobile just before it lodged underneath a parked grain truck.
