An Indiana State Police trooper and two others were injured Thursday in a crash during an emergency run in northern Indiana.
Trooper William Ennis, 32, was on his way to the scene of a crash in South Bend when he struck a car driven by 19-year-old Robert Lee Perez of Mishawaka at an intersection. Perez and his passenger, 20-year-old Danielle Cutler of South Bend were taken to an area hospital.
Perez, who had to be extricated from his vehicle, was listed in critical condition. Cutler was said to be in serious condition at the hospital.
Trooper Ennis, a five-year ISP veteran, was in stable condition with injuries to his hip and legs. The emergency lights and sirens in the trooper's patrol car were on at the time of the crash.
