Nicole Elmblad scored 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, and Michigan steamrolled Indiana 67-40 on Thursday night in the first round of the Big Ten Conference tournament.
Rachel Sheffer added 12 points for the fifth-seeded Wolverines (21-9), and Nya Jordan had eight points and 13 rebounds. Michigan outrebounded Indiana 45-30, outscored the Hoosiers 32-10 in the paint and never trailed in the game.
Jasmine McGhee led the 12th-seeded Hoosiers (11-19) with 12 points. Indiana shot just 27 percent from the floor.
The game was never really in doubt. Michigan scored the game's first 12 points, capped by a Jordan layup, en route to a 31-21 halftime lead. The Wolverines then opened the second half on a 12-2 run and cruised from there.
Michigan State will face No. 4 seed Michigan State in the tournament quarterfinals Friday.
