Man killed during struggle in front of children

INDIANAPOLIS -

Police say a man was killed during a struggle in the presence of young children.

A caller told a 911 dispatcher a man may have been shot in the 5000 block of Wicks Drive around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday. Officers arrived and found 28-year-old David McMiller unresponsive in his apartment. Medics pronounced McMiller dead at the scene.

Investigators believe McMiller had been shot or stabbed, but are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Three small children may have been present during what police describe as "a fierce struggle between the victim and the suspect or suspects." The children were not harmed and were placed in the custody of Child Protective Services.

No suspects have been identified in the incident.
