The Zionsville Fire Department has announced the death of a firefighter-paramedic.
Cody Richardson, 26, worked his final shift at Zionsville Fire Station 91 on Monday. He finished up his shift at 7:00 am. Later that day, he was found unresponsive at a farm in northern Boone County.
Richardson was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The cause has yet to be determined.
Richardson worked for the Zionsville FD since 2007, first as a part-time firefighter-EMT and then becoming full-time the next year. He later went to paramedic school and became a firefighter-paramedic.
"Cody will truly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, family and friends," the fire department said in a statement.
