Indiana lost its number one college basketball ranking on Monday. A win on Tuesday brings them closer to a number one seed in the Big Dance.
The Hoosiers prefer the latter.
For the first time since 2002, Indiana has already clinched a share of the Big Ten regular season championship. With a win in either of their final two games, the Hoosiers would win the conference title outright, something they have not done since 1993.
That accomplishment might be enough to promise Indiana one of the four coveted number one seeds in the NCAA tournament. But with No. 14 Ohio State and No. 7 Michigan remaining on the schedule, it's not going to be easy.
Indiana defeated Ohio State 81-68 in a signature win in Columbus, Ohio on February 10. Since then, both programs have won four of five games. Tuesday is Senior Night in Bloomington.
Thousand-point scorers Jordan Hulls and Christian Watford are among those upperclassmen who will be honored. It may be the final home games for sophomore Cody Zeller and junior Victor Oladipo, who are highly rated NBA draft prospects. The game tips off at 9 p.m. at Assembly Hall.
Eyewitness Sports reporter Rich Nye will be in Bloomington covering the game. Look for his post game reports on Channel 13's Nightbeat at 11 pm.
