Man injured in Indianapolis west side fire

Posted: Updated:
INDIANAPOLIS -

A man was burned and taken away by ambulance from a west side house fire early Monday morning.

There is no word on any other injuries. Another man said he and his girlfriend were in the garage and jumped to safety.  The man said the homeowner left the house with flames on his arms and hair.

The fire in the 300 block of South Holmes Ave. started just after 3:30 a.m. and is still burning, with IFD calling in extra companies and fighting from a defensive position for a period of time.  They were able to go back inside between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m.

The fire was intense enough to burn the siding on the house next door.
