SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN -

Singer-songwriter Bobby Rogers of The Miracles has died.

Allen Rawls of the Motown Museum says Rogers died yesterday morning at his home outside Detroit at the age of 73. He says Rogers had been sick for several years.

Rogers formed The Miracles in 1956 with his cousin, Claudette Rogers, as well as Smokey Robinson, Ronnie White and Pete Moore. Their hits include "Shop Around, "You've Really Got A Hold On Me," ''The Tracks of My Tears" and "I Second That Emotion."

Rogers and Robinson co-wrote "The Way You Do The Things You Do" for The Temptations and "First I Look At The Purse" for The Contours. He's also the voice on Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" who says, "It's just a groovy party, man, I can dig it."
