INDIANAPOLIS -

Indianapolis Police say two people who had to be extricated from their car after a serious accident were not wearing seat belts.

Nine units were dispatched at 8:54 p.m.. to the two car accident at the intersection of E. 30th Street and Fall Creek Road.

The extraction took Indianapolis Fire Department crews only about 10 minutes.  A 36 year old female and a 7 year old female, who police say were both unrestrained by seatbelts, were sent to Methodist Hospital in serious condition.

The 62 year old driver of the second car was released from the scene with no injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by IMPD.

The Indianapolis Fire Department reminds residents that all occupants must wear seatbelts when riding in a vehicle.
