Billie Joe Armstrong: getting back on track

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

Billie Joe Armstrong says he doesn't remember much of his meltdown on stage during a music festival in Las Vegas - an incident that led to him leaving Green Day for a stint in rehab.

He tells Rolling Stone magazine he only remembers "tiny things" about the incident last September, in which he smashed his guitar on stage and profanely told the audience he wasn't Justin Bieber.

He says when he woke up the next morning, he asked his wife how bad he had acted up and was told, "It's bad." When he called his manager, Armstrong says he was ordered to leave the group and get into rehab.

In the article, Armstrong tells about his years of abusing booze and prescription drugs.
