INDIANAPOLIS -

A former central Indiana jail officer accused of coaxing female inmates into stripping for him in return for favors has pleaded guilty to one count of official misconduct in a plea deal with prosecutors.

The Indianapolis Star quotes prosecutors as saying three additional counts of sexual battery, battery and theft will be dropped when 21-year-old Nicholas Tankersley of Martinsville is sentenced March 25. He entered the plea Monday.

The former Morgan County jailer was accuse of offering extra sheets, oranges and other items if inmates exposed their breasts or stripped in front of him. Court documents say the incidents involved about a dozen inmates began in November and continued until Jan. 11.

The jail is located in Martinsville, about 25 miles southwest of Indianapolis.
