Michael Jackson: jury may decide mother's suit against promoter

Posted: Updated:
LOS ANGELES -

A lawsuit by Michael Jackson's mother has a chance to go forward in court.

A judge in Los Angeles has ruled that a jury should be allowed to hear a case in which Katherine Jackson blames the promoter for her son's final concert tour for hiring the doctor convicted of killing him.

The suit claims AEG was negligent when it hired and supervised Dr. Conrad Murray, who gave the singer a lethal dose of the anesthetic propofol in June, 2009.

While the suit is going forward, the judge did reject some of Mrs. Jackson's claims. And a lawyer for AEG predicts the company will win if the case goes to trial.
