Organizers of an annual pork festival are taking steps to ensure this year's event isn't a washout regardless of the weather.
The Tipton County Pork Festival lost $5,000 in 2010 and $22,000 in 2011 due to rain. It started this year with no money in the bank.
The Tipton County Tribune reports that the festival committee has changed its business model. Festival president Brett Cornutt says the changes should allow the festival to remain profitable regardless of the weather.
Cornutt says the festival will offer many pork products this year that aren't normally available at the event as part of a "Pork Count." It also plans to add entertainment and increase its breakfast selections.
This is the 45th year for the festival that occurs just after Labor Day.
