INDIANAPOLIS -

Indianapolis Public Schools is expected to vote next week to hire Dr. Peggy Hinckley as Interim Superintendent.  Dr. Hinckley's first day with the district is scheduled to be March 4.

Hinckley will serve as interim superintendent until a permanent one is hired. She succeeds Dr. Eugene White, who announced his retirement last month. Dr. White will assist with the transition before going on administrative leave in April.

Dr. Hinckley was superintendent of Warren Township from 2001 to 2012. She previously served as Superintendent of LaPorte Community School Corporation from 1989 to 2001 and Hobart Township Schools from 1984 to 1989. After retiring fromWarren Township, Dr. Hinckley started an education consulting business.

She is the author of Monitoring: Keeping Your Finger on the Pulse of School Improvement and was selected the 2012 District V Superintendent of the Year by members of the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents.

Dr. Hinckley is an Indiana University graduate. She earned her Master's degree from Purdue University, an Ed.S. from Indiana State University and an Ed.D. from Loyola University of Chicago.
