Damage from Monday night storms

Posted: Updated:

Monday night's rain and high winds left behind fallen tree limbs, broken glass and damaged homes in some parts of central Indiana. Eyewitness News spotted several tree limbs down along Veterans Memorial Plaza in downtown Indianapolis.

Some homeowners in the Geist area are also cleaning up from storm damage. A tree fell on to a house near 86th and Carroll Road. People were at home when this happened late Monday night. Luckily, the homeowner had just headed downstairs when he heard the impact. He told Eyewitness News when he got to the bottom of the stairs, he heard the tree crashing through. He says it sounded like a fighter jet went over his house.

There was extensive damage to the roof, as well as part of the interior of the house.  They won't know the extent of the damage to the home until they can get that tree off of the house Tuesday afternoon.
