INDIANAPOLIS -

A Metro police officer was taken to the hospital after his car was struck at the intersection of West and New York Streets near Military Park Sunday night.

The officer was awake and talking at the scene, according to IMPD Sgt. Linda Jackson.  He was taken by ambulance to IU Health Methodist Hospital with a possible head injury.

The driver of the other car, a 20-year-old woman, was treated at the scene.

According to Jackson, the officer was eastbound on New York just after 9:30 p.m. when the woman, driving southbound on West Street, ran a red light and struck the police car on the driver's side rear door.
