SOUTH BEND -

The University of Notre Dame is raising tuition nearly 4 percent for undergraduates for a fourth straight year.

The school said this week the cost of tuition for the 2013-14 academic year will be nearly $45,000. With average room and board rates of $12,500, total student charges will average more than $57,000.

Notre Dame's president, Rev. John Jenkins, tells parents in a letter that new resources will help the school grow in areas such as internships, study abroad programs and undergraduate research. He also writes that the university would continue its efforts in pursuit of excellence.
