Epic takes down song because of Lil Wayne's Emmett Till reference

NASHVILLE -

A cousin of Emmett Till says the family wants an apology from Lil Wayne for a vulgar reference to Till in an unauthorized remix of Future's "Karate Chop."

Till was the 14-year-old black Chicago boy tortured and killed in Mississippi in 1955 for whistling at a white woman.

Epic Records took down the song and Epic CEO L.A. Reid called Till's cousin, Airickca Gordon-Taylor, to explain and apologize. She says Reid told her Future and Lil Wayne were cooperative.

Lil Wayne has not made any comment on the issue.

Epic plans to release an official version of "Karate Chop" without the reference.
