Report: Former Indiana Secretary of State Charlie White still free

Posted: Updated:
HAMILTON COUNTY -

Former Indiana Secretary of State Charlie White still has not started serving his home detention even though it's been a year since his conviction for theft and voter fraud.

White was convicted last February for lying about his correct address to keep a $1,000-a-month a month job on the Fishers Town Council.

A judge sentenced him to a year of home detention, but White was free during the appeal process, even though his attorney asked to stop the appeal last fall.

Now our partners at The Indianapolis Star report prosecutors want a Hamilton County judge to force White to start serving his home detention.
