One man was arrested Saturday morning after Johnson County Sheriff's deputies were called to a auto theft in progress near State Road 135 and Olive Branch Road in northern Johnson County.

Deputies were dispatched to the 3100 block of Buckmoor Parkway just after 5 a.m. Saturday after Brandon Ray called 911 to report an auto theft in progress. While on the way, to the call Ray reported being shot at by one of the suspects.

When police arrived, Ray told deputy's that he was woken up by his dog barking. He got up and noticed his black Honda Pilot in the court across the street from his house. Ray ran out to a white Camry parked in his driveway to follow the vehicle.

As he was backing out of the driveway he noticed a maroon Dodge Charger in the court that was leaving. Ray followed the Charger because he thought it was related to the theft of his Honda Pilot.

According to Ray, the Charger made a turn onto Buckmoor Court and then pulled into a driveway in the 3100 block of Buckmoor Court. He told police that he believed there were four men in the Charger wearing tight skinned masks. The men got out of the vehicle and one of them fired a single shot towards Ray.

He told deputy's that the four suspects then fled south towards the Olive Branch strip mall and he returned to his home.

A Johnson County Deputy responding to the call pulled into the Olive Branch strip mall and noticed a man fleeing from a black Honda Pilot. The deputy told the suspect to stop. The man continued to run north into the woods. A perimeter was set up and Deputy Kerry Hamilton along with his K-9 partner were called to the scene.

Just before 6 a.m. deputy's found the Dodge Charger in the driveway of 3178 Buckmoor Court and through a vehicle check found it was reported stolen from Westfield a few days earlier. Deputy Hamilton with his K-9 partner started tracking and found a man on the porch of 1423 Heron Ridge.

The suspect who was taken into custody was later identified as Lemickol Thomas.

A little before 9:30 a.m. Johnson County dispatch was called to the 1900 block of Pheasant Way about a vehicle that was taken sometime after 11:30 p.m. Friday night.

Glenn Bartholomew says he left the house around 8:30 a.m. Saturday but didn't notice if his wife's 2008 Saturn Outlook was in the driveway. When he returned home he realized the vehicle was missing and they called to report it. Mr. Bartholomew said that his truck was unlocked and that he had a spare set of keys to the Saturn in the center console.

Police believe that one of the suspects from the previous incident may have taken the vehicle.
