Mike Shinoda runs recycling company in Haiti

LOS ANGELES -

Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park has quietly been a jobs creator in Haiti.

Shinoda teamed up with a childhood friend who runs a charity in Haiti to launch a recycling program called Sustainable Recycling Solutions. He says they considered making it a nonprofit but the Haitians like the idea of holding a job.

They have 30 full-time employees. Shinoda says most Haitians don't know Linkin Park, but they understand if he explains that they've sold as many records as Jay-Z or Rihanna.
