Gloria and Emilio Estefan are turning their life stories into a Broadway musical.
They have teamed up with the Nederlander Organization to make it happen. There's no creative team yet, and it's still in the planning stages.
The Estefans say in a statement the foundation of the show will be their cultural roots, their challenges and the rewards that come with that. Emilio fled Cuba when he was 14 and persuaded an uncle to lend him money for an accordion so he could start a band.
Gloria was the shy singer who fronted the band that would become the Miami Sound Machine.
