Officials with Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and the government of Brazil will help eight students celebrate completing a global science and engineering exchange program during a Brazilian Day event on the campus in western Indiana.

The Tribune-Star reports 17 Brazilian students are studying on campus through that country's Science Without Borders program. It is part of the Brazilian government's initiative to send up to 100,000 undergraduate and graduate students to the best technology schools in the world by 2015.

Eight of those students at Rose-Hulman will complete their studies later this month, while nine are staying through summer. Two new students are scheduled to arrive in March.

Rose-Hulman President Robert Coons and Camila Mandel Barros, deputy consul for the Brazil consulate in Chicago, are scheduled to attend.
