Governor and his family move into official residence

Posted: Updated:

It's moving day for Governor Mike Pence. He and his wife Karen and their three children moved into the Governor's residence Saturday on North Meridian Street.

Governor Pence already has been working at the Statehouse for a couple of weeks.

He says moving into this historic home makes it feel a little more official and humbling at the same time.

"There was never a time in my life that I remember driving up and down Meridian Street, coming past this place, that I didn't glance over and the idea that my family and I get to live here and serve from here is something we'll cherish the rest of our lives," said the Governor.

The governor's residence was not regularly used by former Governor Mitch Daniels. He owned his own home north of Indianapolis.

The Pence's also own a home in Columbus, Indiana.
