Four Indiana families sue to recover lost investments

FRANKLIN -

A central Indiana county commissioner, his wife and members of three other families who lost more than $700,000 they invested in businesses state officials say were shell companies are suing two men accused of orchestrating the scheme.

The civil lawsuit filed in January in Johnson County Superior Court says the four families lost all of their investments in two Greenwood companies run by Trafalgar resident Martin McClary and Florida resident Parry Clark. The Daily Journal reports the families are seeking restitution and damages.

McClary and Clark face multiple felonies in what investigators called an investment scheme that took at least $1.6 million from 33 investors.

Indiana Secretary of State's Office spokeswoman Valerie Kroeger says prosecutors plan to seek restitution for the victims, including by seizing assets if necessary.
