Randy Travis gets probation in drunk driving case

Posted: Updated:
SHERMAN, TEXAS -

Randy Travis has pleaded guilty to drunk driving in exchange for probation and a fine.

Travis received a 180-day suspended jail sentence, two years of probation and a $2,000 fine. He also must go to rehab and do community service. Authorities say Travis veered off a road near Sherman, Texas, on August 7 and struck several construction barricades.

Police say Travis was naked and combative. Travis has had a string of run-ins with the law. Police outside Dallas cited Travis after an August 23 incident in which he allegedly intervened in an argument between a female acquaintance and her estranged husband.

He pleaded no contest in that case.

He was also arrested last February northwest of Dallas for public intoxication.
