INDIANAPOLIS -

High winds damaged utility poles and knocked down power lines overnight as storms moved through central Indiana.

There were several damage reports from Greene County, but the National Weather Service does not believe it was caused by a tornado and the NWS will not be doing a site survey there. It's believed that 70 mph straight-line winds caused the damage.

In Greene County, 14 homes had minor damage, mostly to outdoor buildings or outdoor furniture, according to Eastern Fire Dept. Chief Austin Combs.

State Road 43 was shut down Wednesday morning due to debris on the roadway. It is now open again.

Winds up to 70 mph caused damage in counties across the state in the early morning hours. Power lines and trees were knocked down in Indianapolis, Crawfordsville and Bloomington.

A downed tree was blocking Westfield Boulevard at 65th Street in Indianapolis.

A tree was reportedly blocking the roadway on State Road 45 at Hinds Road in southwestern Monroe County. In Spencer, high winds destroyed a concrete garage.

In Morgan County, flooding has closed State Road 42 between 231 and Little Point. See more road closures here.

A large shed is reported in the roadway at Vernal Pike and Hartstrait Road. Fire and Monroe County emergency crews were en route.

The Greene County Sheriff's Department reported heavy structural damage to several residences on State Road 43 from Solsberry to Hendricksville in Eastern Greene County. This has resulted in heavy debris in the roadway including trees and power lines down. State Road 43 will be closed from Solsberry to Hendricksville until further notice. Emergency crews are en route to survey the damage. No injuries are reported.

Several thousand homes and businesses were without power due to the storms Wednesday morning.
