CINCINNATI -

Ohio Players bassist Marshall Jones calls singer Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner one of the most creative people he's ever known.

Bonner died over the weekend in southwest Ohio at the age of 69.

Details of his death were not given. Jones says Bonner and the rest of the band were delighted and flattered when the Red Hot Chili Peppers brought new life to their song "Love Rollercoaster."

The Ohio Players also had hits with "Fire," ''Funky Worm" and "Skin Tight."
