Avon Police seek Little Caesars robbery suspect - 13 WTHR Indianapolis

An armed robber got away with an undisclosed amount of money after tying up four employees at an Avon pizza parlor Saturday night.

The robbery took place shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday (January 26) at the Little Caesars Pizza on US 36 in Avon.

The store's manager unlocked the door for what was supposed to be the last customer of the night. Surveillance video shows the suspect, described as a young black male who was wearing a mask, pull a gun, demand money from the safe and order everyone to the back of the store.

The suspect then forced the employees to tie each other up using zip ties. Police say the crime takes robberies in Avon to a new level.

"When we see an escalation in behavior, in tying victims up, battering victims, anything like that, it certainly becomes a priority for us," said Avon Police Det. Brad Nugent.

The store workers say the robber threatened to kill them and demanded they lie on the floor. The store manager got loose after the robbery and called 911.

CALLER: "We just got robbed and held up with a gun."

911 OPERATOR: "How long ago did it happen?"

CALLER: "Just five minutes ago....they busted out all the camera things and took all the money in the safe, out of the drawers and zip tied us and put us in the back bathroom but the door doesn't lock like he thought so we got out."

The robber left through the store's back door, ran straight to a ravine and jumped a wooden fence. The store's manager was able to give police a good description of the suspect.

911 OPERATOR: "What did he look like?"

CALLER: "He was wearing one of those hats like a winter ski mask. Not like a full one but covers your nose and your mouth. He was a black person. He was about 5'6" and had a jacket on with a hood. He was wearing dark navy jeans with designs on the pocket and his shoes were like brownish black boots and he had a black book bag."

Police say even though the suspect covered his face, his clothing and gestures may give someone a clue to his identity.

"Maybe they recognize somebody that wears that coat frequently," Nugent said.
