Taxi driver dies in downtown crash

INDIANAPOLIS -

A taxi cab driver was killed early Sunday morning following a crash between his cab and an SUV at a downtown intersection. The driver of the SUV, Whitney Gettys, of Indianapolis was later arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death.

Police and emergency personnel were called to the intersection of Delaware and Washington Streets around 3:30 Sunday morning on the report of a serious accident.

The driver of the cab who has not been identified was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the SUV, Whitney Gettys, was taken to Wishard Hospital for treatment.
