An Earlham College graduate has pledged $1 million for construction of the Richmond campus' first-ever baseball stadium.
The gift by Randy Sadler was announced Thursday by the Quaker-affiliated liberal arts college. The school's baseball team, the Quakers, currently plays its spring season at Richmond's McBride Stadium.
Sadler played baseball at Earlham, pitching for the team while double majoring in physics and mathematics. He graduated in 1973 and is president of PROWARE, a company that provides information technology to court systems.
The Palladium-Item reports the new stadium will have synthetic turf and be located between Earlham's football stadium and its equestrian center.
The new Randal R. Sadler Baseball Stadium is slated for its debut on March 8, 2014, when the Quakers play host to Kalamazoo College.
