INDIANAPOLIS -

The post office is hiring for hundreds of new jobs.

The U.S. Postal Service announced they are hiring 400 city carrier assistants in several Indiana ZIP Codes. The jobs pay $15 an hour and will be posted through Sunday (January 27).

All applicants must apply online by midnight on Sunday. Paper applications will not be accepted, the post office said in a release Thursday.

"A city carrier assistant delivers and collects mail on foot or by vehicle under varying road and weather conditions in a prescribed area; maintains professional and effective public relations with customers and others, requiring a general familiarity with postal laws, regulations, products and geography of the area," the news release stated.

Candidates must complete a written exam and will need to be available for an interview and screening activities at the facility location.
