Javon McCrea scored 24 points on 10-of-12 shooting, and Will Regan's 3-pointer with 12 seconds left provided the game-winning points in Buffalo's 66-63 victory over Ball State on Wednesday night.
The Bulls (7-12, 2-3 Mid-American) took the lead for good on McCrea's dunk with 2:41 to play. After Regan's late 3, Jauwan Scaife's 3-pointer with 2 seconds left pulled the Cardinals (7-10, 1-4) within 64-63 before Buffalo sealed the victory with two free throws.
Regan totaled 17 points for Buffalo, which won despite committing 20 turnovers. Scaife had 18 points and Majok Majok added 13 points and six rebounds for Ball State, which lost its fourth game in a row.
The Cardinals never trailed in the first half en route to a 31-29 halftime advantage. Neither team managed more than a five-point lead after halftime.
Ball State still leads 13-9 in the all-time series between the schools.
