Train derails at Girls School Road

INDIANAPOLIS -

A 62-car train derailed at around 6:00 am on the Indianapolis west side Wednesday.

The train was en route to Avon from Toledo, Ohio when 28 cars and one locomotive derailed.

CSX says the cars are upright and there were no leaks or injuries. CSX also says crews were still clearing the scene late Wednesday afternoon.

One of two train lines remains closed, and the cause is under investigation. It could take weeks before CSX can determine the cause.

The derailment closed a portion of Girls School Rd. near Rockville Rd. for a short time Wednesday morning. That is open again.
