Child, 8, checked for injury after striking police car

INDIANAPOLIS -

Police say a child was taken to the hospital after she ran into the side of a moving police cruiser.

Metro police say the eight-year-old girl ran into the street at Hillside Avenue and Martin Luther Lane in Indianapolis and struck the side of the police car, which was traveling at a low rate of speed.

The girl was taken to Riley Hospital for Children to be checked for injury. There is no report on her condition or the extent of her injuries.

The officer was checked for intoxication per IMPD protocol and no indication of impairment was found.
