An Indianapolis man faces several charges after Greenfield Police caught him driving a stolen car. Officers say he also had a stolen gun in the car.
Greenfield Police stopped 19-year-old Terriell G. Waddell in the 1100 block of East McKenzie Road in Greenfield for an invalid license plate early Wednesday.
Waddell did not have a valid driver's license, so police had the vehicle towed and conducted an inventory. That's when they found a modified semi-automatic AR-15 handgun under the driver's seat. Police ran a check on the weapon and found that it had been reported stolen in 2006 from a business burglary in Elkhart.
The Saturn that Waddell was driving had been reported stolen from the northwest side of Indianapolis in late December.
Waddell admitted that he had stolen the Saturn and the license plate from another blue Saturn. He admitted to buying the AR-15 on the street in Indianapolis. He was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Hancock County Jail.
Waddell faces charges of possession of a handgun without a permit (due to the overall length of the firearm being less than 26 inches it is considered a handgun), receiving stolen property and operator never licensed.
A 16-year-old who was also in the car was questioned, then released to a family member.
