INDIANAPOLIS -
Monserrate Shirley, one of three people accused in the deadly Richmond Hill explosion last November, will have her nursing license temporarily suspended pending the outcome of criminal proceedings.
Shirley, along with Mark and Bob Leonard, are accused in the Nov. 10th, 2012 blast that destroyed Shirley's home, killed two of her neighbors and damaged or destroyed dozens of other homes in the Indianapolis south side neighborhood.
Shirley was working as a nurse. The Indiana attorney general says it filed a petition with the State Board of Nursing to temporarily suspend Shirley's nursing license, and it's reached an agreement with Shirley (known as a "voluntary Summary Suspension Agreement" to suspend her license.
If the board approves the agreement, Shirley's license will be suspended pending the outcome of her criminal trial. If she is convicted, the attorney general's office will file a formal licensing complaint against her. The board would then consider the complaint and determine the appropriate disciplinary action - which could include license revocation. If she is found not guilty in the criminal case, Shirley could petition the board to be removed from the summary suspension.
