BEDFORD -

A Bedford High School student is in trouble after police say the student brought a stolen handgun to school last Friday.

The parents of a student who saw the handgun reported it to police. Bedford Police officers investigated with the help of the school corporation.

The accused student's guardian cooperated with the investigation, and law enforcement was able to validate the report.

Police recovered the weapon and took the student who brought the gun to school into custody to face possible criminal charges. The school has also implemented immediate disciplinary action against the student.

The school praised the actions of the student who saw the gun and reported it, along with that student's parents, and police.
