Rotnei Clarke
Clarke suffered a neck injury in Saturday's win over Dayton.Butler's leading scorer Rotnei Clarke will miss at least two games with a neck injury.
The team announced Monday evening that Clarke will not play in the Bulldogs' home games against Richmond and No. 8 Gonzaga this week. Clarke was injured during Butler's 79-73 win at Dayton on Saturday.
"Rotnei saw a spine specialist today and based on that visit and his previous examinations, we felt it was in his best interest to hold him out this week," said Butler Head Athletic Trainer Ryan Galloy. "He is making progress and we will continue to evaluate him."
Clarke was injured after he was fouled on a lay-up attempt. He remained on the floor for eight minutes and was taken from the court on a stretcher. It was determined at a Dayton-area hospital that he had not sustained a fracture.
The senior transfer from Arkansas leads the Bulldogs (14-2) with a 16.3 points per game average.
