INDIANAPOLIS -

No one has come forward yet to claim a rooster that caused a commotion on Monument Circle Thursday.

The rooster was spotted by DPW workers. They tried to catch it, but had to call in animal control officers for help.

They finally got the rooster after chasing it around in the fountain.

Now, we've learned that no one has claimed the bird yet and time is running out for the owner.

If the rooster isn't claimed by Monday, Animal Care and Control will work with rescue partners to find a new home for the rooster.

The director of Naptown Chickens, an organization that helps residents set up chicken coops in their own backyards, tells Eyewitness News that the number of coops in and around downtown is growing and he wouldn't be surprised if we see more chickens on the loose.
