INDIANAPOLIS -

As the heaviest rains of the week thus far sweep through the metro area, there is the potential for high water problems during your morning commute.

Among the streets that frequently pond during heavy rains, North Keystone experienced local flooding at both Kessler Blvd. and 71st Street, where several cars stalled in high water.

Crews also had to rescue a driver after they were caught in high water in the area of 52nd and Moller.

Boone County reports heavy rain throughout the county due to the overnight rain.

A three-car accident in Lebanon closed S.R. 39 at Fordice in all directions.  The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Just two days ago there was plenty of ice and snow on the ground. Under that ice were leaves and dirt which created the perfect dam for street drains. If you didn't shovel out your drains then, you could wake up to a surprise this morning if heavy rain falls in your neighborhood.

The Department of Public Works puts the responsibility for keeping the street drains clear on the residents living around the drains.
