Jim Irsay looks back on the past year in awe.
He made the tough calls -- firing Bill and Chris Polian, coach Jim Caldwell and releasing quarterback Peyton Manning. He dealt with the emotional toll of gutting his franchise, hand-picking the guys he wanted to start building around, and then losing his head coach for 12 weeks. He celebrated the Colts' remarkable turnaround and bemoaned the premature end with Sunday's playoff loss at Baltimore.
For Irsay, the transition from one of the NFL's most successful runs to a new era has made this one of his most challenging years in football.
But without Irsay's conviction to start over, Indy's remarkable turnaround season may not have been possible.
