On Facebook: more friends, more weight

Posted: Updated:

Your popularity on Facebook could impact your waistline.

A new study finds that just 5 minutes on Facebook can temporarily improve your self-esteem when you focus on close friends, but here's the bad news: Enhanced self-esteem actually reduces your self-control when you make decisions, like choosing an unhealthy snack, after browsing.

That lack of self-control plays a role in your finances, too.

Frequent users were found to have a thousand dollars more in credit card debt, than infrequent users.
