Two statues planned for Elvis Presley birthplace

Posted: Updated:
TUPELO, MISSISSIPPI -

The Elvis Presley birthplace in Tupelo, Mississippi, plans to add two more statues of him. The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports one statue will be of 11-year-old Elvis sitting on a milk crate.

Birthplace chairman Henry Dodge says they're putting an emphasis on Elvis the boy. That's not to say they're ignoring adult Elvis.

The other statue will be of Elvis the entertainer in his cape with his arms outstretched and head tilted up.

Dodge says that's the pose Elvis used to close his concerts, and it's also a symbol of the end of his life, looking to the heavens.
