An Indianapolis substance abuse hospital plans to open a drug- and alcohol-treatment center for women in the central Indiana city of Shelbyville.
Fairbanks Hospital Inc. President and CEO Mark Monson says the new center in the city about 25 miles southeast of Indianapolis will fill a significant treatment gap for women in Indiana and the region. He tells The Shelbyville News there "really isn't a facility in the state of Indiana" like the one the nonprofit treatment hospital will open in Shelbyville.
The Shelby County Commissioners last month approved rezoning Fairbanks Hospital's selected site to accommodate the new center.
Monson says he's hoping the center can open its doors in May following upgrades to the site's existing single-family residence and surrounding acreage.
